It takes 1 hour and 50 minutes to get to Wentworth Falls from Sydney central station. The journey passes through vast green mountainous landscapes, giving you a taster for the day ahead. The journey in total (from central) cost just over $10 for each way per person (around £6) so a really cheap day out.

There are many signs at the station directing you towards the Wentworth Falls picnic area, which takes around 20 minutes through a residential area. Another option is to take the Charles Darwin route (starting at the park across from the station). This route follows the stream which eventually becomes the falls, this takes roughly 45 minutes. We took that route back and it was lovely.

The photos speak for themselves, this place is insane. There are many routes to hike, which are rated easy, medium or hard on the route maps around the falls. We took the Wentworth Falls Lookout hike, the Undercliff hike & the Princes Rock Lookout hike which were all medium. You can take the National Pass hike and walk all the way down, if we were not short on time would have been a preference for us. But having said that you can still appreciate the whole area from above.

It was such a good cheap day out... there’s not too many places to eat so take a packed lunch and make the trip even cheaper (remember to also bring lots of water, it gets REALLY hot here). It would definitely be easy to spend lots of time here, we will definitely be making a return trip.
